Shaton Menzie joined the UChicagoTech team in July 2006 as a Project Coordinator, and was promoted to Senior Project Coordinator in July 2008. Shaton assists Senior Project Manager Eric Ginsburg in managing his patent portfolio. Specifically, she handles patent docketing and event monitoring, license maintenance, financial review, government and private foundation compliance reporting, as well as other intellectual property administrative matters.
In addition to her work as a Project Coordinator, Shaton is involved with other office-wide initiatives including communications strategy development and standardization of the University’s online technology marketing efforts.
Prior to joining the UChicagoTech team, Shaton was a Graduate Student Marketing Assistant at the University of Michigan College of Engineering Technology Transfer Office. In this role, she discussed new inventions with faculty, drafted non-confidential abstracts of technologies, and sent marketing packages to appropriate industry personnel. Shaton has also previously held information technology internships with Comerica Bank in Michigan.
Shaton Menzie received a Bachelor of Science in Systems and Computer Science from Howard University in May 2004, and a Master of Science in Information, Economics, Management, and Policy from the University of Michigan School of Information in April 2006. Shaton is a native of Detroit, Michigan and enjoys semi-gourmet cooking.
