Linda Kawano, Ph.D.
Special Advisor
Linda Kawano began working with ARCH Development Corporation in 1997 and has continued to work with the Office through its transition from ARCH, to UCTech and eventually, UChicagoTech. In her role as Special Advisor, Linda is responsible for providing best practice expertise and training to the Office. She has developed a training program for the professional and support staff and advises the Office on academic technology transfer and licensing practice and procedures.
Over the past 23 years, Linda has held positions in the areas of sales support and marketing, technology transfer, technology assessment, licensing, and business development in both the private and public sectors. Linda’s experience includes licensing diagnostic technologies for Abbott Laboratories, directing Northwestern University’s Technology Transfer Program, business development, technical support, and marketing for the Life Sciences Division of Amersham Corporation, and managing a consulting business focused on university intellectual property management. She has served as a board member of the Association of University Technology Transfer Managers (AUTM), as a member of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) Membership Committee, and has spoken at numerous technology transfer workshops and seminars.
Linda holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and Experimental Pathology from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is a recipient of the Excellence Award from AUTM and is a registered Certified Licensing Professional with LES.
