Eric Ginsburg joined the office in 2001. In his role as Senior Project Manager, Eric is responsible for leading the identification, evaluation, protection and commercialization of inventions arising from University of Chicago research. Eric manages a large portfolio of technologies from diverse scientific disciplines with a heavy focus on various aspects of chemistry, as well as technologies related to medical imaging.

Beyond his work as a Project Manager, Eric leads many other office initiatives, including keeping abreast of developments in patent law and making recommendations regarding the use of information technology support tools within the office. In addition to his invention management and commercialization responsibilities, Eric also works with and mentors Associate Project Managers at UChicagoTech, and assists University Research Administration with their review of licensing and confidentiality provisions in grant awards, material transfer, corporate sponsored, consulting, and clinical trial agreements.

Before joining the office, Eric worked in research and development at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York and Abbott Laboratories in Illinois. Prior to working in industry, Eric was a postdoctoral researcher at the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California.

Eric holds an S.B. degree from MIT and a Ph.D. from Caltech, both in Chemistry. His graduate work focused on the synthesis and characterization of soluble electrically conducting polymers. Eric became a registered Patent Agent in 2007.
