Carla Bradshaw joined the team in March 2005 as an Intellectual Property Clerk. Carla was soon promoted to become UChicagoTech’s first Office Coordinator, and has now moved into the role of Project Coordinator. In this position, Carla is responsible for supporting Project Manager Matthew Martin with the management of his patent portfolio. Specifically, she handles patent docketing and event monitoring, license maintenance, financial review, government and private foundation compliance reporting, as well as other intellectual property administrative matters.
During Carla’s time in the office, she has played a key role in organizing events such as the UChicagoTech holiday party, “From Bench to Bedside” poster presentation event, as well as numerous speaker seminars. She has also been a member of several teams assembled to implement office-wide initiatives. For example, Carla was an active participant in the P-Project committee, whose hard work resulted in the digitization of UChicagoTech’s paper files.
Prior to joining UChicagoTech, Carla spent several years in the banking industry. She has held positions with Continental Bank, Bank One, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. During her banking career, Carla was recognized as a top data entry clerk for her speed and accuracy. Carla has also worked with the International Association of Assessing Officers (IIAO) in its Property Appraisal and Assessment Administration department. As the IIAO’s Professional Designation Program Coordinator, she was responsible for handling high volumes of student and non-student inquiries, tracking student progress in their progression toward obtaining their professional designations, and also served as the liaison between the Professional Development and Professional Designation committees.
Carla is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and plans to pursue her Master’s in Industrial Psychology shortly thereafter. She is a Chicagoan, born and raised in the Bronzeville neighborhood on the South Side of the city.
